Pros

The students are great - well behaved, supported from home and enthusiastic about their “things”.

Cons

Management is inexperienced and young. If you’r over 50 you’re on the way out - governors and management monitor numbers of staff over 50. Toxic environment for those whose face doesn’t fit or too good and liked by students - SLT don’t like that, prefer to have people even more “robotic”, less “empathetic”, more automaton and encourage the results “factory” approach rather than proper education or enjoyment. Toxic for anyone (student or staff) with any disability or mental health issue. CEV staff and students put at most risk during the pandemic to “get rid of the problem” I.e. unventilated classrooms, masks not allowed, duties that include the most exposure to the maximum number of staff - I.e. either leave or due in service! They only want A* students and robotic teachers. Teachers in wheelchairs timetabled to teach up stairs with no lift available! SLT will not want any good, caring teachers as this is not the ethos of the school (factory). If the girls don’t get A* no matter what their background or problems they are not appreciated and not wanted at the school and teachers that can’t make an A* from a level 3 student are not wanted (unless they have a “lever”). Male SLT have taken sixth form girls “jogging” in the local park unaccompanied and this has been swept under the carpet. Many other worrying issues including a male member SLT licking a pair of scissors suggestively in front of a class full of girls and bringing his family and disappearing with them on a field trip he was supposed to be supervising. This previously good school is broken by over ambitious, self promotion, expansion beyond wildest expectations and very poor SLT for some unknown reason banding together in their incompetence.. I would never send my daughter there or advise anyone to work there with the current SLT.
