Pros

The only pro i have for this awful school is that there’s so many students that deserve so much better!! and some off the saff.

Cons

The amount off students they get rid off because off stupid reasons is absolutely ridiculous, kicking them out because they are struggling and the other teachers can’t help them, i was helping this one student with her mental health and all i got out off it was teachers breathing down my neck, telling me to not help the students because its their jobs, i tell you what they can’t do there jobs!! the safeguarding is absolutely shocking. There was this one child that got kicked out for trying to get help, ended with her in hospital and bandages on her wrists. The brunts academy is an awful place and some off the teachers need to be gone. The amount off students that came up to me and was struggling with their mental health and teachers wasn’t helping was disgusting there only kids!! all i can say now is that im so glad rachel has gone!

DO NOT send your kids to this awful school, the school claims that they care about the students well-being's but do they heck! the headteacher named Rachel Sutcliffe claims she's doing good for that school well she's wrong, she's making kids suffer more. The Brunt's Academy should off been shut down ages ago but didn't due to other schools having no places, the schools an absolute joke! that Rachel Sutcliffe needs to be gone she says that if she don't have a good relationship with the students then that's it they aren't getting any help and get sent to another school because the school doesn't wanna cope with anyone that's struggling she also likes to laugh in students faces when they are telling her about how they feel and why they struggle that's not very professional if you ask me, as to the other teachers they just want to step their careers up, i don't know what this school is trying to succeed but all its doing is getting a bad name, as for the uniform Rachel Sutcliffe thinks it's okay to make girls wear things they feel uncomfortable in yet they have teachers walking around with really short skirts, kids should be able to express themselves. The Brunt's Academy treats students like prisoners their not allowed to say or do anything unless a teacher says, as for going to the toilet is an absolute joke you MUST have a toilet pass or they won't let you go, they say it's a safe school and everyone feels "happy" well they are lying! Rachel also thinks it's okay for her members off staff to grab students, when ofsted come in they act all nice and put the "naughty" students in the loft or suspend them. Members of staff that use to/work there have also complained about how the school system is failing pretty much all the students and also complained how they don't take things seriously. DO NOT send your kids here, it's a crap school and the teachers don't care about anything but themselves.

I was a student at Brunts for five years, and they made my life a living hell. I was bullied every single day my so many people, including teachers, and no one did a thing, in fact some teachers encouraged it. The pastoral team were dreadful, they never got to the bottom of why people were bullying, there was never any education on the effects of bullying, or anything like that. The school itself and the bullying was the reason behind my multiple suicide attempts while I was there, and I have now been diagnosed with PTSD as a result of this, which makes my life really hard sometimes, despite the therapy. As well, no one ever got disciplinary action for bullying, but would exclude students for not having the correct uniform, put someone in isolation for FIVE MONTHS because they had dyed hair. Their approach towards discrimination such as racism, ableism, sexism, homophobia and everything else was disgraceful, and they hired teachers that were on drugs, and teachers which groomed children, which includes one teacher in the science department that force the girls to take their blazers off if it was raining so that they could see their bras through their wet shirts. It was disgraceful. I also worked with someone who worked there years later who would tell me that a student killed themselves and let the people behind it come back to school, having no punishment or anything else and basically pushed the incident under the carpet. They only care about their image and their exam results, the school was run as a dictatorship, which even saw one teacher, who went into the job for the right reasons get brainwashed into their ways. Do not ever work here, and do not ever send your children here, I plead you. That place has scarred me for life and it will continue to scar it's students (and to some extent, it's teachers) for life.

Cons

**** ***** is a narcissist, she was originally meant to be relocating from the North East when she got the job but has opted to keep renting an apartment (what's wrong not confident you'll be there much longer) she has driven some excellent staff out of the school, whilst employing friends, using the services of friends recruitment companies and basically breaking every rule in the book. She only wants yes men, don't conform then you are out of the door. Made changes that didn't work, and then made changes to changes. She's got the governors and trustees in the back pocket. All to the detriment of the pupils. Covid at the school has been an absolute joke with many year groups fully isolating multiple times in a row down to bad management and failing policies. So much so that a large number of pupils now suffer from anxiety. She won't admit to mistakes and won't take on board valid criticism. No end of staff have handed notices in, nobody applying for the vacant positions, I wonder why? CEO just grabbing her £150k a year salary and £25k pension contribution, not bad for failing.

Pros

The only pro I have for this awful school is that I have made amazing friends and met some amazing students who deserve way better than they are currently getting!

Cons

During my time at the brunts academy, I was constantly being ridiculed for my teaching methods and being told my way of teaching the students were wrong. Management were constantly trying to control the students and trying to turn them into "robots" all the same uniform, no nail varnish, if you don't have a tie, isolation fo you. If I'm honest I find it utterly disgracefull that they are more bothered about how much jewellery you were wearing rather than the poor students who were coming to me saying their mental health was awful. Multiple times I tried to make changes in my area of the school and got shot down straight away. All I want to say is, if you are thinking about getting a job there or sending your child there, DONT!!! The only reason I am writing this is because I have seen some of my ex colleagues who experienced the same as me, come out and speak on their experiences. Good luck finding new teachers to fill all your spots next year!!!

Hi, my name is Mr Housley. Basically, I came to this school expecting high standards to be met. But I look around and all I see is souls. Souls, all 28 of them, and then this fellow... His name is William Bingham. What an absolute muppet! So now I try my hardest to make everyone's life a misery!!!!!! #mentalillness

There is non apart from the the worst teacher leaving but unfortunately going to a primary school in the trust

Cons

Very horrible to student and very unfair. A person named Natalie Aveyard worked at this school and made every ones lives a living hell to the point where students AND staff hated her so much because she would not care about anything but the so called business and would care wayyyy to much about the students uniform where they got put in isolation. And as for staff she has drove the good teachers away who actually cared because she wouldn’t let them do there job. Mrs aveyard just makes the school hell and so does the other teachers. DO NOT WORK HERE OR SEND YOUR CHILD HERE IF U WANT A GOOD LIFE!!! :)

Fuck all

Cons

There's so much wrong with this school. It is horrific. They have no regard for students/pupils whatsoever and don't even treat them as actual human beings. That woman who calls herself Carolyn Nuttall should be ashamed. Are you proud of the fact that you've messed this school up so badly? You're the reason why all the kids nowadays have mental health problems and want to kill themselves. How can you even sleep at night? You heartless cow. Actually, that goes for all the staff here. You all treated me like shit and that's the reason why I've decided to retire. Fuming.

The only good thing that’s happened to me in this school is that I found amazing friends.

Cons

They don’t do anything about bullying, tell students to focus about education over mental health, force students to act as if they’re in the military ect. Not to mention how they don’t do anything about racism. I reported a racism incident with my friend once and they said they couldn’t punish any of the racist boys because “there’s no valid punishment for them”. Another thing, they don’t listen to your complaints at all. You complain that your child is getting bullied? Well then it’s your problem. Complain about how they force specific groups of students to take a French GCSE even though it’s not mandatory? They don’t care, they just want a good rep when people ask if people have gotten good results in the language department. Not to mention the sass of the teacher, they scream in your face for doing literally nothing yet when you respond they go ballistic. There’s so much more I could complain about, like how they have sexist dress codes- forcing girls to wear trousers instead of skirts because they can’t control the boys or they just don’t care enough to educate any of the boys about sexual harassment. I’m not saying that girls should wear skirts, they should wear what they want, but the fact that every girl wears trousers instead of skirts to avoid sexual harassment shows a hell of a lot.

Pros

Excellent Sixth Form Some superb senior leaders and middle leaders Hard-working and dedicated staff

Cons

Appalling Trust-level leadership. Nothing is ever good enough. Bullying behaviour. Puts far too much on teachers and expects the world because "we have to do best by the children". Constant change - assessment systems have been replaced every year (often mid-way through the year) Ridiculous 'i4' meetings for GCSE progress which are basically a chance to bully middle leaders about data. No desire to understand context though. No trust in staff or engagement with them. Staff turnover at an all-time high. Behaviour is declining as a result of poor policies and lack of centralisation combined with high levels of supply in.
