Pros

Ignore the 2 reviews previous from 2 disgruntled ex-employees. This school go absolutely above & beyond for the children! Amazing facilities, passionate staff, inspiring headteacher! Yes, some days are harder than others but which job doesn’t have those days! This school is in its own league, providing exceptional care and education to every child so they can Aspire, Achieve & Sparkle!! :)

Cons

Absolutely none! Honestly!

Pros

If your face fits, there are quite a few seeming ‘pros’ but don’t be fooled, because even that means massively increased workload. The children are a bunch of characters and even the trickier ones can be a joy to work with.

Cons

You will be told several things about this school, one of which is ‘we are a family, we’re not the Waltons, more like the Munsters’ this is not right because the Munsters, much like the Adams Family were strange but totally supportive of each other. As a ‘family’ member at Moorgate you will be expected to work after school and during your holidays. One senior member of staff pointed out in a staff meeting that a course the head had booked them on fell in half term, they were then subject to eye rolls, tutting, huffing and made to feel bad because they wanted to spend their half term with their actual family. And this behaviour is not a one off. Teaching Assistants were more or less emotionally blackmailed into staying after school to provide booster sessions, because it was ‘for the children’. That is another phrase you will hear from the top, ‘everything we do is for the children’. That is another lie. The excessive amounts of random paperwork to beat Ofsted with are not for the children’s benefit. The way members of staff are bullied and berated until their own mental health is broken is not for the children’s benefit. In fact, when offered an alternative to a performance that was causing increased amounts of anxiety to several pupils, the response from the top was that they would ‘have to get over it’. The focus is NOT on the pupils. As a member of staff, your mental health and well being mean nothing. There are members of staff who will no longer speak up about anything for fear or being the next victim of the Head and Deputy. Previous members of staff have been subjected to vicious and underhand tactics in order to get them to leave, because once the two at the top decide you are going you ‘should probably just go on the sick’. Even if you have been one of the golden few, if an excellent opportunity comes up and you hand in your notice, you will see their true colours. You will be pulled into meetings, which will be minuted, at a moments notice and be subjected to a character assassination framed as ‘several members of staff have come to me this past week’, which is not believable as most members of staff would never go to the two at the top with an issues. If this happens, please contact your union. The new deputy has been accused of bullying several members of staff, and yet these allegations have magically disappeared as soon as the staff member who brought them up have left. I could go on, but I really do not want to waste my time and energy on the most senior members of staff at that school. Absolutely despicable behaviour from the top and I strongly advise you look elsewhere. In fact, anywhere that claims to be a ‘family’ should set off alarm bells and have you running in the opposite direction. If you want to know about a school, just look at the turn over of staff.

Pros

Very difficult to find one.. the children are amazing and a pro that shouldn’t be one is that you’re not alone. There are some people who are supportive as they go through what you do. Others are too scared to speak up for fear of being the ‘next target!’ That they’ve taught me how not to run a school and how not to treat people.

Cons

Toxic environment with bullies at the top. If your face fits and you’re a ‘favourite’ or have something they can use you for or are someone they can easily manipulate and control then you are fine. If they want you gone or you upset them in some way then they make your life hell. This is not coming from a disgruntled ex member of staff, this is coming from someone who wants to warn others so they don’t experience the bullying and isolation that I, and many others have. One of the main culprits of this bullying is now the deputy. So the two most nasty work-placed bullies I’ve ever worked with are in the top two positions at the school, so I can only imagine the place getting worse. They need to reflect on their pay behaviours and think about how they’ve made people feel and stop insisting on making themselves victims. A phrase they both use is ‘there’s a lot of power in being a victim’ no because you don’t allow a victim to be a victim of you’re bullying because you are very clever at making them out to be the ones in the wrong to others because of your toxic cult like culture! Those currently in control at the school make peoples lives miserable and are relentless. It wouldn’t surprise me if they found this page and made their staff write a positive review because of the fear they in still in others that they’ll be the targets of this behaviour next. They even tell staff they really hate, to go off on the sick. Some ex members have taken them to tribunals and won. This is how nasty and toxic this place is. To make others cry and get to the point where they need medical intervention because of the bullying is disgusting. It’s a culture within the school, once you’re the target of the bullying, others stay away from you for fear of being bullied out of their jobs. They’ve knocked the confidence out of so many people. I wouldn’t work here under the current leaders for millions! Please, for your own mental health don’t work here… you deserve better!!
